2003 Field Season

The primary focus of the 2003 field season was a thorough exploration of the Pyla-Koutsopetria region to determine the general types and location of artifacts within our survey area.  The entire project area was carefully studied, photographed and mapped to help determine future methodology.  Based on our reconnaissance survey, we engineered a project design that would begin with gridded collection and then expand in subsequent seasons to the broader pedestrian survey of the micro-region, in effect, reversing the typical order (Pedestrian Survey à Gridded Collection) of analysis of the site within its region.
