Helikite

In 2010, PKAP acquired a Helikite (a combination of a helium balloon/blimp and a kite) from Allsopp Helikites. The goal was to use the helikite to take low altitude photos (both normal and infrared) of the PKAP survey area. The helikite saga was quite an interesting one, from having to locate a cylinder of helium on the island, to the actual flying of the device. (For the complete saga check out our blogs from 2010).
