Nicosia

Nicosia (Lefkosia) is the last divided capital city in the world. The Green Line runs through the middle of the old city and divides the northern half (Turkish) from the southern half (Greek Cypriot). The United Nations maintains the demilitarized zone. There are many attractions to see in the city, such as the Archaeological Museum, Byzantine Museum, Folk Art Museum, and Venetian city walls - to name just a few. In addition, the Cyprus American Archaeological Institute (CAARI) is located in Nicosia. CAARI provides us with support and use of their excellent library.
